OUR PROGRAM

This summer let them explore the joy of the moment and the benefits of nature, music, arts, dance and yoga in a nurturing environment.

MUSIC

Choir, percussion, xylophone and intro guitar for age 7 and up.

DANCE

Contemporary, choreography and traditional country folk dances.

YOGA

Postures, breathing exercises, meditation, songs and games.

VISUAL ARTS

Painting, drawing, collage and crafts, among others.

NATURE

Rain or shine we are outside and children must dress appropriately. Being outdoors is essential at Anakkara Summer Camp. The kids spend at least two hours outdoors every day. Working in the garden or sprouting cereals together, making birdhouses or learning the names of the trees and plants in the neighbourhood are some of the activities that children will do outdoors, in addition to lunch and free unstructured time.

WEEKLY OUTINGS

Children from 8 to 12 years old go out twice a week to the surrounding area, in the city of Montreal. We travel by STM to different parks, festivals or museums. Last year we visited the Museum of Fine Arts, The Honourable George O’Reilly Park in Verdun and The Fur Trade at Lachine National Historic Site, among others. A TYPICAL DAY AT CAMP

8:00- 8:45 Extended Care

8:45 – Sign in and camp circle 

9:00 – One group practices yoga, meditation and dance // Another group has free play outside

9:30  – Groups switch activities

10:00 – Snack time and outdoor play

10:20 prepare for the park, pool and outings

10:40 – Monday, Wednesday, Friday  Depart for  Confederation Park and Pool
Tuesday and Thursday Depart for Benny Park. T
he group of children  age 8 to 12 years old have a field trip in Montreal.

11:00-12:00 Park / pool

12:30 Lunch 

13:00 Quiet Time and transition

14:00 – One group has visual arts and the other group has music.

14:50 Groups switch activities and transition

 15:35  Prepare for end of day

15:45 – Good Bye circle, popsicles and  pick up.

16:00 – 17:00  Extended Care

CAMP RULES

Maintaining a safe, healthy and secure environment for EVERYONE is fundamental  at Anakkara Summer Camp.  The camp rules must be followed by all campers and counsellors.
